Pre Treatment Guide for
Waxing

What Is Waxing?

Waxing is an extremely popular and widely used method for semi-permanent hair removal. As the name implies, the process involves the use of wax to remove hair from the root, leaving smooth, hair-less skin in its place. Depending on the individual and area of the body, waxing results typically last 3 to 6 weeks and can be done on almost any part of the body, including face, eyebrows, bikini area, legs, arms, back, chest, and feet.

The benefits of waxing for the purpose of hair removal are generally known. However, waxing also rejuvenates the skin, removes dead skin cells and is a great exfoliation process as well.

How To Prepare for Waxing

  • Do not shave the area(s) being treated for at least one week prior to appointment

  • For body waxing, hair should be one-quarter inch in length (or longer) for best results

  • Stop the use of retinol in the treated area 4 days prior

  • Avoid chemical peels in the treated area one week prior

What To Expect During My
Waxing Treatment?

Warm wax is applied and smoothed over the target area. As the wax comes into contact with the skin, it will cool and harden, firmly attaching to the hair follicle. The wax is then removed in the opposite direction of hair growth, leaving smooth and hairless skin behind. During the process of wax removal, it is common to feel momentary irritation though this is generally mild and subsides almost immediately.
